The plain facts
What it can open
PDF, Word (.docx), plain text, Markdown and CSV. A PDF that is really a photograph of a page — a scan, a phone picture — has no text in it to read, so TranslateDoc tells you that instead of charging you for an empty file. The old .doc format, Pages and OpenDocument are not supported; save them as .docx or PDF first.
What it costs
Credits, bought once, at one credit per 550 characters of the document — about seventy-three for a full fifteen-page contract and two for a short letter. The exact number is shown before anything is translated, and the price of a pack is shown in your own currency. There is no account tier, no monthly file allowance, nothing to cancel later, nothing expires, and no card is needed for the free sample.

What happens to your document
The file stays on your machine. Your browser opens it and extracts the text, and only the text travels — to our server, and on to the machine-translation model that does the work. We hold it for the length of that one request and write none of it down: no copy of your document, no log of its contents, and nothing we train on. If you leave to pay, the extracted text is kept in your own browser so the file is still loaded when you come back, and it is cleared the moment the translation is delivered.
What this is not
This is a machine translation, for understanding what a document says. It is not a certified, sworn or notarised translation, and it should not be filed as one with a court, an immigration office or an employer that asks for authorised translation. Layout is not reproduced: you get the text, paragraph by paragraph, not a copy of the original's design. Amounts, years and reference numbers are checked automatically and any that changed are marked for you — but meaning is not, so read anything you are about to sign against the original.
